Binocle, in partnership with DXO LABS and the INRIA (the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control), has developed Stereocam, a project supported by the ANR (French National Research Agency) and Oséo Anvar.
This R&D project aimed:
- to meet cinema professionals’ requirements
- to develop innovative tools for stereoscopic shooting applied to 3D cinema (2-4K resolution, 35-70mm format)
- to allow all the professionals involved in 3D stereoscopic production to master the following basics:
- 3D stereoscopic filming using motion control
- real-time visualization of the corrected images, as will be broadcasted at the end of the 3D HD TV or film production process
- technical mastering of the 2D/3D image
- ensuring optimal visual comfort, during post-production, using the 3D stereo correction software to correct image aberrations caused by geometric, color and optical disparities, and thus regardless of the performance of motion control tools and the quality of stereoscopic shooting.
Binocle’s other R&D activities also involve 3D HD TV, stereoscopic filming and the visual comfort of viewers.
